The history of the cooperation of Dr. Hoffmann and Dr. Carballo
Dr. Hoffmann received his doctor's degree from the University of Hamburg in 1979. In the following year he became a German Tax Advisor. He was an university officer at the “International Tax Institute” of the University of Hamburg. There he worked from its foundation until 1985. He was engaged in economic questions of international tax law. In 1980 he joint also a tax partnership, where he took care of German and international clients, especially of foreigners with economic activities in Germany.
He is a member of the Chamber of Tax Consultants in Hamburg (Steuerberaterkammer Hamburg) and as a Certified Public Accountant a member of the Chamber of Auditors in Germany (Wirtschaftsprüferkammer Deutschland). He is a director of an audit firm (ADVISUS GmbH Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft Niederlassung Hamburg).
Besides other activities he is a lecturer in the preparation for the state examination in the professions of the Tax Advisors and the Auditors since many years.
From the beginning of his professions Dr. Hoffmann is a counselor of Spanisch clients with interests in Germany and German clients with interests in Spain. In 1984 he and his wife, an economist and a lawyer, took part in the foundation of the German-Spanish Lawyers' Association. He published several books and articles of science and praxis. With Dr. Carballo he published a bilingual book (German and Spanish) about real estate in Spain with the title ”Immobilien in Spanien - Erwerb, Verkauf, Vererbung - Inmuebles en España - Compra, Venta, Sucesión - 6. The office is situated close to the center of the City of Hamburg and also close to the General Consulate of Spain. Dr. Carballo (Doctor en Derecho y Ciencias Sociales/Uruguay), of Spanish decent, was borne in Uruguay and lived there until the age of 27, the last years as an Uruguayan lawyer. He completed his judicial and social studies in the Netherlands and in Spain. After his examination he became also a Spanish lawyer.
Since 1979 he lives in Hamburg and practises his profession from here in realation to Spain and Latin America. He is bilingual in German and Spanish and speaks also English, Catalan and Portuguese.
Dr. Carballo is member of the Chambers of Lawyers of Málaga and Hamburg (also for German law) and has the qualification of an European Lawyer. During four years he was a Member of the Presidency of the Hamburg Chamber of Lawywes (Vorstand der Hanseatischen Rechtsanwaltskammer Hamburg).
He is president of the Foreign Lawyers Association in Germany and a Member in the Spanish-German Lawywers Association as well as member of the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Germany. Since June 2008 he belongs to the steering committee of LAV Lateinamerika Verein (Commercial Association for Latin America).
Dr. Carballo as well has published professional books and articles both in Spain and in Germany. With Dr. Hoffmann he is co-author of a book about real estate in Spain with the title ”Immobilien in Spanien - Erwerb, Verkauf, Vererbung - Inmuebles en España - Compra, Venta, Sucesión - 6. Most activities he developed in commercial and real estate law. Since more than 25 years he works for his clients in Spanish-German und Latin American-German cases. Besides he counsels German clients with Spanish interests in real estate law and in inheritance law.
